Months before National Day Celebration, Trongsa Dzongkhag Administration called us to help them with the management of the toilets. We were very happy and gladly accepted to be a part of the historic moment. Since they were expecting thousands of people from Trongsa and nearby Dzongkhags, we suggested them to build few more toilets in addition to the existing ones.
Few days before the Celebration, BTO officials went to Trongsa to see the ongoing preparation and assess the conditions of the toilet. The Organizers converted school toilets as public toilet but these toilets were way below BTO standard. So with the help of 10 volunteers from Taktse College, we cleaned these toilets as much as we could.
On the day of the celebration, BTO staffs and volunteers stationed ourselves near the toilets and made it ready for the public. His Majesty The King, His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, His Royal Highness the Gyalsey and other members of the Royal Family graced the occasion. Marking this day in history turned out to be yet another historic moment in Trongsa as the nation saw its past, present and future monarchs in the historically significant place. His majesty awarded medals to outstanding individuals and organization for their hard work and dedication in national building and BTO was amongst the 23 CSOs who are the proud recipients of National Order of Merit (Gold).
We managed to provide odorless and clean toilets throughout the day. These volunteers were very happy and satisfied with the experience and committed to form a toilet club under BTO flagship once back in college.
